Research conducted in our laboratories has verified many other in vitro experiments performed at independent laboratories that lecithin saponins emulsify fat in aqueous media. The logical extension of this observation to the small intestines is assumed through scientific precedent. The fat-binding properties of fiber from guar gum and psyllium hulls interfere with the absorption of the emulsified fat from the small intestine. The bound fat molecules are then eliminated.
Unlike some other types of fiber, guar gum does not affect mineral absorption. However, this fiber does slow down sugar absorption, which helps to maintain blood sugar levels already within the normal range. It also swells with fluid intake, promoting a feeling of satiety

Apart from mandatory tests including Sunscreen, Stability, and Preservative Efficacy, we also conduct voluntary tests that include:
Human Repeat Insult Patch Test
The irritancy and sensitivity test is two-phased and conducted on fifty people per product. During the first phase, the test is repeated three times on the same subject within a week. there is a ten to fourteen day break and then the subject is patch-tested for three consecutive days. there is a 24-hour evaluation and a 48-hour evaluation. In every case, no sensitivity has been recorded for any of our products.
Comedogenicity Tests
All of our products, except lip and eye makeup, undergo this test and prove to be non-comedogenic. Non-comedogenic products are less likely to clog pores and cause acne and are more suitable for sensitive skin.
Heavy Metal Testing
We test all of our products and every single shade of our lip colors to ensure that trace elements fall below allowable levels for heavy metals including mercury, arsenic, barium, cadmium, chromium, cobalt, copper, lead, nickel, selenium, and silver
Photo sensitivity Testing
All of our sunscreens products and those products containing citrus extracts have been tested for phototoxicity. The test results have shown that no adverse effects or unexpected reactions of any kind were observed on a test subjects. We avoid ingredients with furocoumarins, the primary cause of photosensitivity.
In the early 70s, Gene Hughes, a Utah school teacher, began experiencing a nagging stomach condition. He took the advice of a neighbor who suggested cayenne pepper for his discomfort. It worked! Soon Gene began feeling much better, but swallowing a spoonful of cayenne pepper was awful. That’s when his wife, Kristine, suggested putting the powder into easy-to-swallow gelatin capsules. It was revolutionary! Gene and Kristine soon enlisted the support of family—Dick and Pauline Hughes and Jay and Arva Hughes—to begin a small family business, selling encapsulated cayenne and other herbs and supplements to health food stores.
The family soon realized they wanted to touch more lives with their products, and they found the perfect vehicle for making this happen—direct marketing. This business model allowed them to educate consumers about the vitamin supplement products and provided their sales force an opportunity to share in the success of the company. Today Nature’s Sunshine Products (NSP) can be found in 30 countries, represented by nearly 600,000 distributors.
Nature’s Sunshine has been recognized for a variety of achievements:
Epidermal leveling is a non-invasive cosmetic procedure, which represents the most current advancements in skin rejuvenation for safe and effective skin exfoliation that is suitable for both men and women of all skin tones. This procedure, also known as “dermaplaning” utilizes a special surgical blade called the “Epi-Blade” to carefully remove the upper most layers of the dermis (skin) resulting in a refinished appearance.
This procedure effectively removes not only the top layers of damaged skin but also the very fine vellous hair (peach fuzz) that can trap excess dirt and oil leaving the complexion looking dull. The process also rejuvenates skin tissue reducing acne scarring, uneven pigmentation and fine line wrinkles.
Epidermal leveling is a procedure that is equally safe for all skin types and skin tones.
Epidermal leveling is recommended on a monthly basis in order to maintain the best results.
The epidermal leveling procedure is simple, painless and can be done as an outpatient service in approximately 45 minutes. The procedure includes the following steps:
Typically, there is not a recovery time necessary after the epidermal leveling procedure is completed.
The benefits of epidermal leveling include:
Epidermal leveling is performed in a physician’s office and the physician is typically a board certified dermatologist or other board certified medical professional.
